Jed Babbin: Keep the Big Dog running
"Rumsfeld was hired by George W. Bush to do precisely what he has done to the consternation of the generals who are now coming out to complain about him."
"Rumsfeld is the Big Dog, and those whose feathers he has ruffled in the Pentagon, the press and Congress are the poodles who chase after him. They should follow the principle one Southern gent often reminds me of: If you can’t run with the big dog, you’d better go sit on the porch."

In the middle of March, a plan advanced by Harry Reid laid out a plan to attack the Administration by using military figures speaking out against it. The plan originally called for the speeches to occur at military bases, but because that's illegal, I think they "moved on " (get it?) to using retired generals.
I am always leery of opening new methods of political chicanery, because I believe that the first time is just a stalking horse and the real attack comes when the "other guys" use it to attack.
How many ex-generals does it take to bring down a government? Why should we listen to these guys? What happens when 90% of the retired generals speak out against a Democratic President? Not good.
